Yongala shipwreck (Ayr)

Citizen science iNaturalist project

Reef Ecologic has facilitated a number of local and international iNaturalist citizen science projects to empower staff, students and the community to learn about and record marine species. The projects range from individual dive sites (Coral greenhouse, Yongala shipwreck, Wonder Reef) to islands (Magnetic, Orpheus) to the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.

We are project sponsors with The Australasian Fishes team and we would be pleased to talk to you about how we can collaborate to involve more people in observing fish, sharks and marine life and add to the largest citizen science database in the world.

What is iNaturalist?

iNaturalist is a joint initiative of the California Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society.

It is a global database of observations and sightings of different aquatic and terrestrial fauna and flora. iNaturalist is a collaborative citizen science tool that helps us expand our knowledge of species and their distribution.
